Located on the Hastings River 406 km north of Sydney and 20 km west of Port Macquarie, Wauchope is a thriving town known as 'the heart of the Hastings'. This is beautiful touring country with places to visit including the Comboyne Plateau, Ellenborough Falls and, further west, Mount Seaview. Two major local attractions are Timbertown (a recreation of a 1880's pioneer town) and the Big Bull (a working dairy farm with farm nursery and displays).
 Watermans Café was established in Wauchope in 1999 by Owner Managers, David and Natalie Warburton, who completely renovated an old motorbike shop. They pride themselves on being the first café to serve espresso coffee in Wauchope ! Recently the Warburtons took the opportunity to move their existing business into brilliant new premises in the High Street – the architect has won three state awards for its design - enabling them to expand and take advantage of new opportunities.
The café is very much country style with a modern twist. Customers love sitting on the front deck, overlooking Bain Park, taking time out to wind down and relax, and it’s great for families as there is a fantastic kid’s play area in the park. The café can seat 65 and can cater for up to 100 cocktail-style.
David and Natalie are committed to showcasing local, seasonal produce delivering the best the region has to offer. The food is simple, good quality and made with passion; they make nearly everything themselves from their bread to dressings to all cakes and cookies; the menu is refreshingly uncluttered and yet stunningly elegant. Their clientele covers a wide range from corporate clients at lunch or dinner to families and friends catching up over coffee and cake. Watermans also offer the convenience of take home meals focusing on natural, healthy ingredients and, as a catering company, they offer innovative catering solutions for that special function.
Being long term customers of Belaroma, Natalie and David have always placed a strong emphasis on the importance of coffee in their business. As David explains: “We have used Belaroma coffee for about 4 years now and I think it is one of the main ingredients in our success.  Our clients want a coffee that has a full bodied flavour, is consistent and most of all, top quality. Belaroma delivers all that and we have developed a very strong coffee following. Many of our clients also buy the Belaroma retail packs so they can enjoy the coffee at home as well. From an operator point of view, Belaroma have amazing customer service and thorough training making it easy to serve great coffee !”
Watermans is open seven days from 9 am, closing at 5 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on weekends. They are also open on Friday and Saturday nights for dinner from 6 pm.
