Just one hour south of Sydney and two and a half hours from Canberra, Thirroul is a charming seaside village spectacularly positioned between the dramatic backdrop of escarpment rainforests and the sea. Over the years, this Northern Illawarra coastline has attracted world famous writers, poets and artists seeking their muse, and now stages the very popular Seaside and Arts Festival.
Elevated off the road, just five minutes from the beautiful beach, is Thirroul Plaza and the Plaza Coffee Lounge. Owned by Dominic Casarotto since mid 2007, this café has a fresh modern atmosphere with a soothing ambience. It is a sizeable establishment, seating 75 people in both alfresco and inside dining areas. There is convenient easy parking at the back.
 The friendly and efficient service is enjoyed both by the regular locals and the many tourists, especially on weekends. Dominic reports that “People travel from Sydney’s southern suburbs especially for our great coffee and tasty focaccias !”.
The cuisine has a decidedly Italian influence with an interesting Australian twist. All the café fare is deliciously tasty and fresh, and the portions are generous.
 As for their great coffee, Dominic selected Belaroma’s Octavia blend for its smooth and rich qualities. Zora Rodic, the Barista, finds it a great blend to work with, delivering a consistently high quality crema and of course the customers love it !

Plaze Coffee Lounge is open seven days a week:
7.30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
8 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
