Belaroma
Café of the Month - Café Colenso

Cafe Colenso
42 Anslow Street, Woodend, VIC 3442
Phone: (03) 5427 2007

Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Macedon Ranges tourism region, take a stroll through the ambient streets of Woodend’s gourmet strip and inhale the delicious aromas of local produce in the making, feel your tastebuds explode with the lure of great Belaroma coffee on offer at Cafe Colenso.

Only one hour north-west of Melbourne CBD, Cafe Colenso, set in Woodend's former Old Bakehouse, is locally renowned for serving the best coffee in town. Owner, Anne Riley, also serves sumptuous cakes and biscuits, which are baked on the premises, and delicious lunches using local Macedon Ranges produce. Dinner on Friday evenings is also very popular and great wines from local and regional wineries are available. Breakfast at Cafe Colenso, particularly at weekends, is a must do - especially on sunny days when you can sit outside on the deck and enjoy the beautiful setting in Acres Wild Nursery. Acres Wild specialises in indigenous plants of the Macedon Ranges and is run by Anne's partner, Robin Baker.Interior of Cafe Colenso

When asked about her success with Cafe Colenso, Anne said " No matter how good the location, ambience, quality of food, wine and service, the last thing most customers experience is a cup of coffee. It is, therefore, essential we provide the best and most consistent coffee. Belaroma has proved to be an excellent friend, partner and supplier in this regard. Additionally, the service and support we receive from Derek and Trudy Shepherd of Arbold Coffee (Belaroma distributors in Victoria) is outstanding".

After enjoying the delights of Cafe Colenso and Woodend, take a drive through scenic untouched countryside to explore the grand gardens of Mount Macedon or the boutique wineries of the Macedon Ranges - there are more than 30 to sample, and they have great wines to select from and add to your cellar collection.

Go for a walk in the Hanging Rock Reserve, famous for the movie “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, and surround yourself with wonder and mystery. Hanging Rock is only 6km from the centre of Woodend.

After all this indulgence, the only remaining option is simply to put your feet up and relax! Book yourself in to one of the B & B's, treat yourself to a massage or some beauty therapies with one of the many local natural therapists, and then enjoy another cup of great Belaroma coffee at Cafe Colenso and the idyllic location in Acres Wild!
