Just a ten minute ferry ride from Circular Quay, Rozelle is at the heart of Sydney’s inner west peninsula where locals and visitors alike enjoy the village atmosphere of this vibrant, colourful and artistic community. Its interesting backstreets showcase different architectural styles of 1800 and early 1900 Sydney from wrought iron and sandstone to timber worker’s cottages. People also flock to the Saturday Rozelle Market, started in 1991, which has grown to become Sydney’s favourite Second Hand Market.
Many locals and visitors also regularly find their way to the Coffee Bean café - established in 1978 as the very first café on the Balmain Peninsula. Joe and John took over in 1998 and are fast approaching a decade in the business.
They have turned a once struggling café into a popular breakfast and lunch eatery based upon regular local customers who view Coffee Bean like a second home. The café seats 50 and while the trend of the business varies Monday to Friday, it is hard to find a seat on the weekend.
 The menu at the Coffee Bean is very extensive with over 50 items across breakfast and lunch as well as daily specials. Often referred to as restaurant meals at café prices, the Coffee Bean prides itself on large hearty meals at very competitive prices.

John comments: “Our association with Belaroma has been a very strong and friendly one, being together for nigh on 10 years … many marriages fail to see that time ! The No 1 blend bean is still the best and fullest coffee I have come across. I have no doubt that our association with Belaroma will continue into the future, and both Joe and I are honoured that the Coffee Bean is their café of the month for January 2008… ten years in the making !!”.
Coffee Bean is open seven days a week from 7.30 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday, and 7.30 am to 3 pm on Sunday. This is a great café in an interesting location – check it out for yourself soon. |
