Located
in the main street of Newcastle's CBD and a block from Newcastle Beach
is Newcastle's Bogie Hole Café. When developing the site in
January 2000, Aaron Buman's concept involved a theme based on Newcastle
icons and history. The Bogie Hole was Australia's first man made ocean
pool and is located in King Edward Park, south of Newcastle Beach
and the café that bears its name.
The
original plan allowed seating for 50 people but consistent growth
over the past four years has seen it expand to become Newcastle's
largest street dining venue. The Bogie Hole caters to a diverse client
base from backpackers to business people. Aaron describes his café
as modern Australian food served in a relaxed atmosphere.
Aaron
says he gets great raps about Belaroma Coffee with customers telling
him they "cruise the restaurants around town but keep coming
back here because of the coffee" and "nobody can make
coffee that good, that fast".
The Bogie Hole is the current holder of the Restaurant and Caterers
Best Breakfast Restaurant - and they certainly get plenty of practice,
consistently serving 200 breakfasts each Saturday and Sunday.
Located
on the corner of Hunter and Pacific Streets, the Bogie Hole is open
7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
