| Imagine listening to the sounds of Africa, overlooking
the Savannah Lake whilst sipping a latte made from Belaroma Coffee,
just before you embark on your Rhino Safari. Sounds great doesn't
it !

Bakhita's Cafe is located in Dubbo at the Western Plains Zoo. The
Café is named after 'Bakhita' the first female Black Rhinoceros
to be born at Western Plains Zoo. The calf was in turn named after
Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese woman kidnapped at age nine by slave
traders, who, eventually freed in Italy, triumphed over adversity
and was canonised for her work with the poor.
Bakhita's
offers modern Australian cuisine, a selection of fine wines and
a range of Belaroma coffee. The café caters for visitors
to the Zoo including international visitors as well as the locals.
Karen and Tanya (pictured right) are two of the friendly locals
who are keen to share their knowledge of the Zoo and local area
with visitors.
The Café's alfresco dining allows visitors to enjoy the
wonderful climate of Central New South Wales whilst overlooking
frolicking lemurs and spider monkeys.
Bakhita's has been receiving great feedback on its coffee from
patrons since making the change to Belaroma Coffee 12 months ago.
Bakhita's is open 7 days a week from 10am to 3pm daily. Locals
making prior booking arrangements can access Bakhita's Cafe without
incurring an entrance fee.
