Barbara Asquith has been owner/manager of Café Annabel since March 2004, naming the café after her daughter Bella. Opposite the heritage listed cinema and with the Cooinda Art Gallery nearby, the café has a great position with plenty of parking out the front on the main street and around the corner.

Cafe Annabel, SawtellThe café seats approximately 40 people, with seating inside in the relaxed surrounds showcasing local art works for sale, and seating outside al fresco where you can watch the world wander by. The ambience is classic yet cosy; there is even a sofa and a wide selection of reading material, including the daily newspaper. Barbara also provides a Wireless Broadband Internet service, where patrons can bring in their laptop or use one from the café. This is definitely a great place to sit and savour a Belaroma coffee !

The menu offers affordable yet tasty fresh meals, catering for a wide range of tastes. They have a regular menu and daily specials that offer something distinctive. There are classics like BLT’s but also fish platters with homemade local yet exotic dips and smoked yellowfin tuna. The café is also well known for its cake display, for its tempting treats, and delicious specials - once tasted, always addicted !

The clientele consist of a lot of locals who frequent the café everyday, plus visitors and tourists on holiday – and some of these are now returning regularly.

Barbara selected Belaroma’s S10 blend, for its smooth but superb flavour, being firm yet not bitter and with a lovely aftertaste. “We appreciate the service and support we get from Belaroma, “ remarks Barbara. “The team is always friendly and helpful. We love the coffee and Belaroma’s delicious Hot Chocolate is a great product as well.  We have recently introduced Belaroma Frappes and Chillouts and they are proving very popular”.

We heartily recommend a visit to Annabel’s at Sawtell - during the winter, you’ll find them open Tuesday to Sunday for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea (from 8 am to 4 pm). In summer they are open everyday and later into the evenings, looking after the late crowd coming in after a hard day at the beach !
