Belaroma Café of the Month

AMAKI COTTAGE
44 Collins St, Kiama 2533
Phone: (02) 4232 1214

Located just 90 minutes south of Sydney, Kiama is a most attractive small resort and fishing town. The area boasts fine beaches, National Parks and lush countryside, and visitors come to enjoy these plus local festivals and of course the famous blowhole, which explodes into a water spout whenever a forceful wave hits a natural fault in the cliffs.

Amaki Cottage in Kiama, NSW, situated on The Terraces

Gail and Wayne Pottenger have owned Amaki Cottage in Kiama since 1999. It has a great location on ‘The Terraces’ - an historic stretch of heritage buildings previously housing original inhabitants of the town and now retail shops popular with tourists and locals alike.

Parking is conveniently available in the street outside the café and there is plenty of seating available in three attractive areas – you can sit out the front and watch the world go by, be comfortable at one of the tables inside, or enjoy being out on the rear terrace.

The menu is best described as modern with the usual goodies for breakfast, and wraps, foccacia, turkish bread, a variety of salads and open sandwiches for lunch. Additionally they offer blackboard specials which are very popular and which they change every three weeks. They also offer an extensive selection of cakes, slices and biscuits which are all baked freshly at the café and are ever changing. You are guaranteed variety and quality at Amaki Cottage !

The clientele is a happy mix of locals, calling in every day for their coffee fix, and lots of tourists, either visiting the beautiful town or enjoying the café’s hospitality while breaking their drive to or from Sydney.

Wayne and Gail have selected Belaroma’s S25 coffee blend and find it full flavoured and stronger than the average café coffee. “It’s perfect for what we want to use;” comments Gail, “plus we find Belaroma’s service excellent -  all their staff are helpful, particularly Cosimo who works hard to assist us at every opportunity”.
